GYM CLOTHING ESSENTIALS
If you are about to get into a sweaty workout session, first thing is first – get dressed into your favorite apparel! Meeting this basic need is essential for feeling good mentally and physically so that you are as prepared as possible to be successful.
1. WORKOUT APPAREL
No matter what kind of fitness you are into, investing in some high quality active wear is essential. Depending on your exercise regime, certain types of active wear will be better suited for you than others.
If you are into yoga, all you need is a low support bra and probably some good yoga pants.
Do you are like running or HIIT workouts? Then you will want to invest in some high support sports bras. You may also prefer shorts over leggings (depending on the climate of the region you’re in) for outdoor running.
2. SEAMLESS UNDERWEAR
Seamless underwear helps to hide those less-than-flattering panty lines that are too easily visible in leggings or tight pants. I love to wear seamless underwear as a way to keep those lines unseen.
3. FOOTWEAR/SHOES
Foot health is so important to consider, especially for runners and dancers.
If you are running, my favorite running shoe are the Brooks Ghosts. However, a lot of people like Hokas. I personally find them uncomfortable, but I keep my pair of Hokas around because they are so cute, and I do believe they are worth giving a try.
Not all fitness girls just want running shoes. For instance, I am a dancer who loves ballet! These are my favorite ballet shoes by Capezio because they are very affordable and so much fun to dance in.
I also rock climb for fun. These are my favorite beginner-friendly rock climbing shoes for women. The Evolv shoes are fantastic and have laces that allow you to adjust the shoe to a tight fit.
It is also important to choose socks that are the best for the type of activity you are doing. I love Nike socks because they are thick enough that I won’t get blisters. I also think they look so cool and trendy.
If you are into pilates, you should stock up on some non-slip socks to avoid injury, and many pilates studios require them for entry into class.

GYM EQUIPMENT ESSENTIALS
Whether you are working out at your home gym, local YMCA, or simply following along with a Youtube workout video in the living room, there are a few key pieces of equipment I think every girl needs around.
1. YOGA BLOCKS
I love yoga blocks for stretching, mobility, and flexibility practice. One great thing about yoga blocks is that they are typically very affordable and accessible for most.
2. RESISTANCE BANDS
Resistance bands can be used for home workouts, yoga, flexibility, and more. They are very cheap and easy to get at Amazon or Target. You can bet I use my resistance bands all the time since they are also great for those training in ballet to strengthen your feet and ankles.
3. BOOTY BANDS
Booty bands are small, circular resistance bands that I use mostly for glute and other lower body exercises. These are small, easy to store, cheap, and very accessible. They make home resistance-based workouts very convenient without the hassle of story heave weights.
4. DUMBBELLS
Dumbbells of various sizes come in handy for all kinds of exercises. I love light dumbbells for small, pulsating movements to a real burn, and I like to use heavier dumbbells for extra challenges that will help build strength. Some dumbbells are easily stored at home through the use of a dumbbell rack.
5. FOAM ROLLER
It is so useful to have a foam roller handy at home for recovery. I use my foam roller to knead in sore muscles because it feels so good and helps the soreness go away faster. Not to mention, studies support the claim that foam rolling increased post-exercise recovery and improves flexibility.
PERSONAL HYGIENE ESSENTIALS FOR HER
These items are great to keep in your gym locker or gym bag. Further, all of these are essential items you need for your workout regime and just daily life. I suggest having everything on this list so you are prepared for anything that comes your way, and that your routine is as streamlined as possible.
1. FACE WASH
Skin care is important for hygiene and looking/feeling fresh after the gym! Lately my favorite face wash has been the Tula brand, but Cetaphil is another brand that I love and it is very affordable. Both of these products are very gentle on the skin.
2. HAIR TIES
If you have long hair, putting it up and out of your face is essential for a good workout. A really good tip is to keep some hair ties handy in your gym bag or locker. I personally love these gentle, seamless hair ties because they are less damaging on the hair than traditional hair ties. The larger ones are great for pony tails and I use the small ones for braids and/or small pony tails.
4. MENSTRUAL PRODUCTS
Obviously, it is wise to be prepared with these items in you gym bag because in some cases, you just never know! Playtex Sport is my favorite brand for tampons, as they are comfortable and easy to move around in.
5. BODY WASH
Body wash is essential for your gym bag or locker so that you can shower after a sweaty session! The Native Body Wash is my favorite natural body wash to freshen up after a sweaty exercise session!
6. SHAMPOO/CONDITIONER
Having some way to shower with shampoo and conditioner is essential for your gym bag or locker. Which brand you use is largely dependent on your specific hair type, and I’m still experimenting on what I like to use best as well!
If you workout everyday, you should opt for a gentle, daily shampoo and conditioners such as the Fairytale’s Gentle Daily Shampoo and Conditioner Set.
If you are going to wash every other day, I love Davine’s at the moment.
7. FLIP FLOPS AND TOWEL
For showering at the gym, bring flips flops because it is more sanitary. Fungal infections, such as athlete’s foot, hang out in wet, warm areas such as public showers, so wearing flip flops can prevent catching an infection.
Also, don’t forget your towel to dry off!
8. SKIN CARE (MOISTURIZER AND SPF CREAM)
Skin care is a gym essential for her, as it is wise to keep in your gym bag or locker to use as a way to freshen up! I am loving Tula at the moment. Remember to wear SPF daily as a means to protect your skin from the sun’s damaging UV rays.
9. DEODORANT
Deodorant is a gym essential for her, and for everybody. This is important to help you smelling fresh after getting hot and sweaty from exercising. The Native Deodorant is a wonderful natural deodorant that won’t expose your skin to some of the many toxins found in common deodorants.
10. COMB/HAIR BRUSH
Don’t forget to back a comb and/or brush in your gym bag or keep in your gym locker! I love the Wet Brush that is designed with flexible bristles to avoid breakage one the hair, to be used specifically when the hair is wet. I personally use a wide tooth comb in the shower.
ELECTRONICS ESSENTIALS FOR HER
1. WIRELESS HEADPHONES
I love having wireless headphones handy while at the gym for listening to music minus any extra wires getting in the way. Can’t go wrong with Airpods, especially if you have an iPhone. They easily connect and disconnect to your phone for quick listening via bluetooth technology.
If you do not have an iPhone, or just want something other than Airpods, Bose is a great brand to check for wireless headphones.
2. SMART WATCH
A smart watch is a great investment if you want to closely monitor your health status while you exercises or track your workout as easily as a touch of a button. I personally love the Apple Watch for its many health-related features such as the EKG app, heart rate monitors, and oxygen saturation monitor.
